Job Description

WAPT TV, “The One To Watch” is the Hearst-owned, market leading ABC affiliate in Jackson, MS is hiring for the position of Account Executive. The Account Executive is responsible for all aspects of selling and servicing television and digital advertising to local businesses and media agencies. This position is also responsible for developing new clients. The ideal candidate is coachable, has strong interpersonal skills, and is highly responsible. We will provide the products and tools to ensure your success in delivering powerful multi-platform marketing solutions for clients. Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement individual advertiser account strategy including revenue goals
  • Participate in group meetings
  • Ability to dissect an advertising RFP; identify key revenue opportunities, and prepare a comprehensive and winning response
  • Act as negotiator for assigned accounts; ensure sales proposals are consistent with station strategies
  • Meet extensively with clients to develop/strengthen business relationships; drive client retention
  • Create and deliver sales presentations to multiple points of contact with client/agency personnel
  • Develop and generate non-traditional revenue; generate digital revenue
  • Maintain current and accurate revenue forecasts by account
  • Review and service orders including overview of correct schedule, traffic, and audience delivery
  • Regularly meet with local and digital sales managers to ensure progression and success with stated goals.
  • Follow and meet all Account Executive standard operating procedures as outlined

Required Skills

  • Ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment
  • Needs a positive, results-oriented attitude and must be a team player
  • Accountability within a goal-structured organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency with Wide Orbit, Kantar, Nielsen, Matrix and One Domain/WO Media Office a plus
  • Must be able to use qualitative research effectively to further sales effort
  • Strong formal and interpersonal communication skills


  •  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
