Job Description

Hearst Television seeks an Associate Digital Preditor for the Digital Curation Desk. If you love to create visually compelling and unique stories for the digital landscape, this position is for you! Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, produce and edit videos for Hearst Television properties, handling everything from concept to delivery.
  • Create sharable graphics and social videos that would fit nicely with content for or from other Hearst operating divisions (e.g. Hearst Digital Media).
  • Understand the tone and style of varying social platforms and tailor marketing materials to help promote curated video content.
  • Identify ways to localize nationally-focused stories and/or pieces that might work uniquely well in a subset of Hearst TV’s markets.
  • Must possess the imagination to tell compelling stories in a high volume video environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues focused on news, social media, and video production across the country.

Required Skills

  • Has a strong eye for pop culture, lifestyle, viral, topical and entertainment-themed content that will perform well on Hearst TV station sites/apps/expressions, sensitized by the nature of the day’s news cycle.
  • A major passion for digital video.
  • Well versed in the digital video game. (Knowledge of influential digital video entities like NowThis, Great Big Story, Vox, Upworthy, Mic, Buzzfeed, and Vice)
  • Authors in an authentic voice that resonates with young adults.
  • Exercises editorial judgement around copy that is and is not appropriate for publication, proper attribution and disclosure.
  • Strong writing and grammar skills.
  • Must be highly informed about current events and popular culture.
  • Ideal candidate will be a creative problem solver, and takes pride in being extremely well-organized and prepared.
  • A strong work ethic, collaborative style, and sharp communication skills are essential for this position.

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of experience being a part of making great video content. Show example links and/or reel.
  • Experience in a digital newsroom is a plus.
