**About Us** NBCUniversal is launching a new Telemundo-owned station in Washington, D.C. This project will expand NBC Washington / WRC-TV’s news staff with a new team of Spanish-speaking and bilingual journalists to launch the new station. Both news teams will serve local Spanish- and English-speaking viewers in the greater Washington, D.C. region. The new Telemundo station team will work closely with WRC-TV’s team members in the existing facility that is home to NBC Washington.

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations is the division of NBCUniversal that includes 30 NBC and Telemundo local television stations, a regional news network and their associated websites and digital platforms, as well as a group of out-of-home properties, a production company, an in-house marketing and promotions company and two national multicast networks, COZI TV and TeleXitos. The local stations, which can be viewed in 37 percent of U.S. homes and in Puerto Rico, produce and deliver their local communities compelling and unique local news, real-time weather forecasts, consumer and investigative reports and entertainment programming across all platforms to help keep their English and Spanish-speaking audiences informed anytime and anywhere.

The Broadcast IT Specialist works closely within a large team to help bridge traditional broadcast practices with IT technologies. Responsibilities include:

Job Duties

+ Support day to day broadcast television, digital and IT / IP operations

+ Work on projects and assist with design and implementation reviews

+ Respond to outage calls regarding technical issues

+ Work with internal team members and vendors to resolve problems as necessary

+ Assist with implementation of software upgrades and system expansions

+ Perform periodic maintenance procedures such as system health checks and proactive system restarts

+ Document support procedures specific to Network systems to be utilized by the larger Engineering, IT and Operations teams at the facility

+ Manage and work on projects in the areas of Routers, Switches, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Proxies, Load Balancers, Firewalls (internet, 3rd party and internal), DMZ, Remote Access, Authentication, DNS, Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems (IDS) and wireless authentication clients


Basic Qualifications

+ 3 years of support in in a live broadcast / IT environment

+ BS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience

+ Must be willing to work in Washington D.C

+ Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States

+ Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required

**Desired Characteristics**

Desired Qualifications

+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal

+ Demonstrated understanding of news operations, control systems, Network practices, systems, transmission, server based workflows and microwave, satellite, fiber and bonded cellular systems

+ The ideal candidate will have experience with the following systems:Graphics branding devices (Ross XPression, Chyron), Video Server Systems (Omneon), digital editing systems (Final Cut / Adobe Premier), Transcoding and delivery systems (Telestream Vantage), Transmission Encoding/Decoding Systems (Harmonic, Motorola, Tandberg, Cisco), Storage systems (Isilon, Omneon, SANs, NAS’), Network infrastructure (Switches, Routers, etc.) , IT Systems such as Servers, Workstations, SQL Databases, Broadcast Infrastructure (Routers, Frame Sync’s, Intercom, etc.)

+ CCNA/CCNP certified a plus

+ Knowledge of Cisco Network equipment a plus

+ VMware VCA/VCP certified a plus

+ Demonstrated successful design, planning and implementation of wide and local area network architecture, including capacity planning and technical troubleshooting

+ Must have expertise in network security and access control systems and related strategies.

+ Expertise working on a team with motivated cross-functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering cutting edge solutions to meet aggressive business demands in an ever-changing environment.

+ Operating Systems: Cisco IOS, NX-OS, IOS-XR, JUN-OS, Linux, MS Windows

+ Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting & analysisEffective interpersonal skills
