Position Overview

NBCU is a Media Industry leader that helps clients achieve marketing and sales goals with innovative solutions that engage targeted audiences at scale. NBCU’s Content Commerce initiative gives NBCU the ability to help even more brands achieve their objectives through a Network branded digital platform that is optimized for commerce and direct consumer engagement.

The Content Strategy – Lead is a fashion and retail expert; responsible for developing the overall editorial voice of the site and creating an engaging, immersive, and profitable curated content commerce experience. This position will craft compelling curated merchandise stories to drive revenue through an optimized product assortment. The role will focus on optimizing purchase conversion and key KPIs beyond revenue goals and engagement. As a fashion and retail expert, the Content Strategy – Lead will partner with the Content Commerce Business Development Lead by identifying priority accounts and developing unique sales strategies. Reporting into the Head of Content Commerce, this position will be a key member of the core leadership team.


• Establish the editorial content and corresponding merchandising strategy for NBCU’s Content Commerce business in partnership with Network brand partners

• Ensure alignment between Content Commerce’s content/merchandise strategy and edit calendar with the Networks; deliver against revenue goals with curated solutions for the audience

• Build out and manage a team of merchandisers, content developers, e-commerce professionals, and partner solutions specialists

• Oversee the production of all daily updates, photo journalist assignments, sponsored content, and freelance contributions

• Collaborate with Network partner Site Editors to ideate, develop, and manage the production of video tent-pole franchises, rich video concepts, and all other related content in ways that are authentic to the brand and monetizable

• Proactively identify creative ways to help the Network partners share stories that showcase a voice of authority and contextual content to convert at the point of purchase

• Track Omniture, Chartbeat, and other real-time analytics; partner with NBCU Data Insights team and 3rd party Customer Acquisitions Agency to grow audience in addition to optimizing published content and the channel

• Ensure that user engagement increases while bounce rate remains low; the Content Commerce business must deliver against both NBCU and brand partner KPIs

• Partner with the Content Commerce Business Development Lead by identifying key partners and developing innovative sales strategies and solutions; ensure all client activations are executed flawlessly

• Monitor user/consumer responses after new priority brands are on-boarded and, in partnership with data and analytics, help drive awareness and sales through negotiated audience targeting, email marketing, and site optimization tactics

• Develop and manage the operational budget along with corresponding reports to ensure product assortment and SKU level is consistently capable of delivering against revenue goals

• Partner with UX to ensure site design is aligned with brand, content, and revenue goals

• Generate seasonal editorial and product strategies that support the business needs and align with the brand strategy

• Conduct competitive research to stay ahead of fashion, lifestyle, and e-commerce industry trends


Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced curated commerce and/or fashion branded digital environment

• 7+ years of experience managing and growing a successful team

• A strong understanding of how content is shared and consumed across different digital and social platforms/channels; the ability to use analytics to help guide content distribution strategy

• Ability to understand and support Network partners’ priorities and business objectives through curated visual edit

• An understanding of how content is shared and consumed across different digital and social platforms/channels & the ability to use analytics to help guide content distribution strategy

• Influence consumer buying behavior and attitudes

• Ability to analyze data to guide merchandise curation and edit to drive business success

• Ability to both react to current business as well as anticipate future trends in the business

• Excellent communication skills

• Highly organized and detail-oriented

• BA/BS degree required
