**Responsibilities**

Summary

The Sustaining Engineer (Control Systems) is responsible for supporting all commissioning, design and diagnostics technical support across all automation engineering aspects of theme park attractions and facilities. Activities include sustainability improvements (in code and hardware), downtime investigations, commissioning new or changed systems, and reviewing sustainability of new attractions.



Responsibilities:

• Drive the selection, manufacturing and testing of automation (PLC) and electrical equipment

• Evaluate PLC software, propose software changes for sustainability and implement changes when authorized

• Support installation and validation of computer and network equipment pertaining to attractions and facilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair complex electro-mechanical equipment, programmable logic controllers and machinery.

• Utilize electrical test equipment (e.g., digital oscilloscope, signal generator) to troubleshoot systems

• Utilize Rockwell Automation software and various types of computer-aided design software to design and implement sustainability improvements.

• Ensure safety, show quality, operational efficiency and compliance in all work performed

• Provide technical and project manager leadership to all Technical Services equipment including Type 1 systems.

• Develop system requirements and stakeholder needs, and understand the engineering requirements for the maintenance, inspection, and operations of all rides, shows, and attractions.



• Support requests of all operating groups/departments within USH in a timely and professional manner

• Respond and resolve control systems issues that affect show quality of all characters, effects, and ride vehicles in a timely manner.

• Communicate accurately and in a timely manner, matters which pertain to the operational status/readiness of all attractions and show venues to the Gang Boss and/or Foreman

• Coordinate and interface with OEMs onsite for equipment startup and issue resolution.

• Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements and Capital Projects

**Qualifications/Requirements**

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

• knowledgeable in electrical circuit design, processors and integrated circuits.

• 5+ years demonstrated project engineering experience of mechanical / structural systems in an engineering environment for the development of dynamic motion (mobile) systems in a theme park environment or;

• Proficient analytical skills to perform engineering calculations for design, analysis, test and implementation of mechanical, structural, hydraulic and pneumatic system modifications.

• Knowledgeable in electrical circuit design, processors and integrated circuits.

• Experience with motion control, show, and animation systems.

• Experience in the generation of component and system specifications, acceptance test procedures, failure and effects analysis, scopes of work, installation procedures, training procedure, technical and maintenance manuals.

• Knowledge of servo controls as applied to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromotive motion control systems.

• Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic system components, functionality, design and maintenance.

• Knowledgeable in NEC, ISO, ASTM and F24 standards.

• Ability & willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays with short notice

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

• Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of employees and management, and willingness to give assistance to co-workers in other areas. Strong team player.

• Ability to multi-task and be flexible is essential

• Experience managing in a union environment

• Experience in programming Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC platforms.

• Experience in programming Rockwell RSView HMI platforms.
