The Advertising Standards department is tasked with ensuring that viewers are presented with advertisements that are truthful, tasteful, substantiated, and non-deceptive. As the Advertising Standards Coordinator, you will provide a broad range of support functions to the team including project management and administrative duties. You will also provide direct support to the Senior Vice President, Advertising Standards as needed. This is a fast-paced, high-volume desk that requires excellent multi-tasking skills, impeccable communication and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.

You will be interfacing with a number of external and internal clients, and as such, you must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism. As the department coordinator, you will also be expected to proactively monitor and analyze department systems and processes, and develop and implement innovative ideas.

• Provide administrative support to the Advertising Standards department

• Act as the main point-of-contact between the department and its clients

• Handle substantial email and telephone interaction with NBC’s ad sales and traffic teams, ad agencies, and clients in connection with advertising review and clearance

• Support our continuing digitization efforts and maintain our internal and external online presence

• Maintain and update department processes based on ongoing analysis of department statistics and data


• Bachelor’s degree

• Minimum 1 year of full-time media experience; additional relevant intern experience a plus

• Exceptional communication skills; must be able to write clearly and concisely and have a superb telephone demeanor

• Adept at prioritizing projects and tasks from multiple managers

• Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and web-based technology

• Excellent business writing skills

**Desired Characteristics**

• A passion for the business of television and an interest in advertising compliance

• Familiarity with FCC, FTC and FDA regulatory rules

• Demonstrated ability to recognize and attend to priorities with experience solving problems and meeting deadlines

• An effective team player with good interpersonal skills; ability to communicate well with individuals and in group settings

• Experience interfacing with clients

• Discretion when handling confidential information

• Project management skills, or proven experience providing critical support on projects
