**Responsibilities**

NBC News is looking for a highly motivated person for this entry-level position. A candidate should be interested in breaking news, have great communication skills and a positive attitude. You should have a desire to develop solid editorial judgement and willingness to work long hours during a developing news story. You will assist in various areas of our newsroom that supports newsgathering throughout the southern US, Latin America and the Caribbean for our broadcast, cable and digital platforms and brands. Responsibilities include:



• Assist in breaking news & on-going story coverage through internet research and phone calls

• Support our teams in the field as they gather and feed news materials including identifying subjects and sources, setting up interviews and gathering b-roll

• Monitor social media sites & the web for news developments in the region

• Stay in constant contact with regional and local PIOs from law enforcement and other public entities

• Production support of the editing teams by organizing and coordinating feeds, logging interviews and press conferences that could be in real-time, ensuring that material is properly ingested, and finding original material and UGC

• Will be encouraged to find and help pitch story ideas

• Organize & maintain crucial queues: desk log, story digest & who's where to reflect change

**Qualifications/Requirements**

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field

• Bilingual in English and Spanish

• Strong research skills and editorial judgment

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while under extreme deadlines

• Team player with proven interpersonal skills
