**Responsibilities**

ROLE SUMMARY:

The NBCUniversal Advertising Sales business has been united as one, seamless Portfolio with a powerful ability to amplify an advertiser’s message and reach the right consumer in precise, targeted ways. The NBCU Portfolio includes two broadcast networks, 17 cable networks and more than 50 digital properties. As Director of Sales, NBCUniversal Sports and News, you will lead a sales team responsible for developing sales and go-to-market strategies for the linear and digital properties of NBC, NBCSN, Golf Channel, MSNBC, CNBC and Olympic Channel. You will represent the NBCUniversal Sports and News Groups to clients and agencies throughout the Detroit Region, which includes Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania and Ontario. You and your team will build strategic, creative, data-driven solutions across linear and digital platforms, in order to develop, generate and maintain new and existing business for the Company.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead a sales team of Account Executives, Sales Planners and Account Service Representatives, to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding, matrixed organization, and drive sales to the NBCUniversal Portfolio

• Employ subject matter expertise of the NBCUniversal Sports and News properties to develop and execute sales strategies which create demand for NBCU by transforming our clients’ brand objectives into a fully realized marketing and media investments at scale

• Work with linear and digital counterparts throughout the NBCUniversal Sports and News Groups to ensure the organization is best positioned to deliver on clients’ objectives/priorities, and maximize power of our properties

• Work closely with the Client Partnerships team to advance a consultative, solutions-based sales and marketing strategy for key target accounts throughout the Region

• Apply NBCUniversal’s exclusive suite of consumer data, insights and analytics to create innovative media solutions across Portfolio content and platforms

• Negotiate complex multi-million dollar marketing and media deals with integrity and commitment to the NBCUniversal Portfolio, Clients and Agency partners

• Develop, own, and maintain professional relationships with clients, agencies and advertisers through direct, regular interaction and involvement

• Perform deep dives on business imperatives of major marketing/advertising categories and companies

• Utilize expertise to provide the sales organization with a deeper understanding of marketplace, industry and competitive positions

• Own annual sales goals in the region for designated platforms, clients and agencies

• Track, measure and analyze revenue pacing, projections and articulate to senior management

• Collaborate with all Verticals within the NBCU Portfolio in order to grow corporate share and ensure success of all

• Manage, coach and mentor the entire sales team by fostering strong team alliance, encouraging inclusive participation and providing guidance and structured training

• Evaluate the performance of ad sales staff against desired outcomes

• Communicate and collaborate internally with other departments, including Marketing, Pricing & Planning, Research, Finance, Programming, Editorial and Production

• Identify opportunities for monetization from Comcast/NBCUniversal capabilities and assets beyond NBCUniversal’s traditional media assets

**Qualifications/Requirements**

• 10+ years of media industry experience with a sales, marketing, client and/or agency background

• BA/BS or equivalent education

• Successful management/leadership experience, and demonstration of ability to work well across a matrixed organization.

• Documented success building, managing, and retaining high-performance teams

• Excellent executive-level presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills

• Proven experience in prospecting, lead generation and negotiation

• Existing client and agency relationships in the Detroit area, and throughout Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Western Pennsylvania and Ontario

• In-depth knowledge and experience with digital, mobile, social, programmatic and emerging media – including campaign performance measurement and optimization.

• Trustworthy, organized, proactive, entrepreneurial and reliable

• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail

• Deep understanding of business drivers within major ad categories, and the ability to connect to media strategy and solutions

• Broad knowledge of Sports, News and Entertainment from an industry and consumer/fan level

• Ability to travel as necessary
