Job Purpose:

The Director, Alternative Programming & Development will report to and work with the VP Alternative Development at Universal Television Studios to develop all Alternative programming and manage all related resources within the department.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Field pitches, identify trends, and help establish the strategic development goals for the Alternative department.

+ Develop new and current programming, including identifying new talent for projects in development.

+ Build and maintain relationships with production and/or co-production partners and help Identify new business opportunities.

+ Create and edit written materials and visual presentations in order to sell both internally and to potential partners.

+ Help oversee the development of internal formats.

+ Attend and act as a studio producer on run-throughs, casting sessions, and tapings.

+ Provide notes on cuts and scripts.


Basic Qualifications:

+ Minimum 7 years work experience in the television industry

+ Minimum 7 years work experience in a production or development capacity

+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, keynoteEligibility Requirements:

+ Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV online to be considered

+ Willingness to work long hours and on weekends with short notice

+ Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA

+ Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

+ Experience in programming for the Studio Television market with hands-on experience, ideally from both a production and a development stand-point.
