NBC Entertainment Digital seeks a Director-level expert in Audience Development and data analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing and monetizing our audience across all digital social platforms, as well as data analytics, tracking, insights and forecasting for our suite of prime time, late night and day time shows including The Voice, Blindspot, The Tonight Show, The Blacklist, Saturday Night Live and many more. The portfolio includes nbc.com, the official NBC network apps (on mobile, connected devices and game consoles), our social media footprint of over 1,000 accounts, our third party video distribution platforms including Hulu, YouTube, Facebook, and a wide collection of MVPDs.

**Responsibilities**

We are looking for an analytics-driven individual who is passionate about using data to guide strategy and who can provide actionable insights to support the success of our content across all digital channels. This position will engage with senior executives to design well-constructed analyses and work cross-functionally with data analysts, digital and social media marketing teams, product managers and engineers to deliver excellence within our digital data and analytics program and will assist in leading business executives, users, and data producers to adopt best practices for data management processes and data quality standards, creating a culture of “enhanced data value” within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for keeping NBC Universal on the cutting edge of data and a broad knowledge of the data tech space and have experiences leading data engineering teams in developing data products and architectures.



This position is based at 30 Rockefeller Center in New York City and the Director reports to the Senior Vice President of Audience Development and Partnerships in Digital Enterprises.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years of experience in advanced digital analytics

• Bachelor’s or Master’s with a specialization in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science and/or Operations Research



Data Analytics Qualifications:

• Expert in manipulation and accurate analysis of complex, high volume, high dimensionality data from various sources

• Experience with large data sets and data warehousing environments (e.g. BigQuery, Redshift, etc.)

• Experience developing advanced KPIs and algorithms around predictive intelligence and growth.

• Understanding of tagging structures for web analytics tools similar to Adobe Analytics/Omniture

• Experience building comprehensive data architectures for tracking, storing and making actionable consumer data from various sources.

• Expertise with social media analytics, including reporting on creative for campaigns and posts

• Experience building a large consumer database from scratch with knowledge of how to track both known and unknown profiles for actionable CRM tactics.

• Familiarity with SQL, Python, Java, Hive and/or Hadoop

• Ability to manage and conduct reporting around media buying data



Leadership Abilities:

• Successful oversight of a data and analysis team, including data scientists

• Visionary ability to grow data capabilities beyond current internal as well as competitions’ systems

• Ensure accurate and timely completion of strategic projects for executive team, including market and genre analysis, competitive title assessment, benchmarking and analytics supporting internal planning and strategy

• Develop and Champion the implementation and adoption of new data initiatives both conceptually and in the fulfillment of critical tools and processes

• Demonstrated hunger for new insights

• Proven self-direction

• Ability to:

o Lead team to make informed business decisions

o Provide guidance around translating data into insights

o Think creatively and tell meaningful, actionable stories with data

o Mentor your team as well as encourage and support data exploration

o Effectively represent business intelligence priorities and communicate at the executive and senior management level

o Interact with other NBCU research teams as required

**Desired Characteristics**

• Team-oriented and collaborative approach with a desire to learn new methods and tools

• Experience with data visualization techniques and tools like Domo, Tableau, and Microstrategy

• Experience leading a data engineering team pushing new products, integrations and data mapping.

• Familiarity and experience with broadcast entertainment, media planning, and social media marketing

• Proven experience in building data function/capabilities including staff, tools, and processes

• Ability to support key functional groups with the construction and analysis of applicable forecasts and models using multiple data sources to support assertions. This may include strategy documents and presentation materials.

• MBA a plus
