**Responsibilities**



DreamWorks Animation is seeking a software engineer who is passionate about effects to join its R&D Effects /Character Effects team. Our team creates tools to be used by artists to setup, groom, simulate, and render a variety of dynamic effects including cloth, hair, fur, skin, fluids, fire, clouds, fracturing, and explosions. This position will work closely with artists in animated film production to develop new algorithms and efficient work flow tools. The team integrates their new algorithms into industry standard third party effects & animation packages. Our team encourages publishing our work and presenting at industry conferences. **Job Responsibilities:**



+ Write software tools for FX/CFX (simulations, collisions, deformers, rigging, rendering procedurals etc...)



+ Support and sometimes use tools in a film production environment



+ Integration of software into 3rd party animation

**Desired Characteristics**



+ Strong C++ experience



+ 2-3 years software development experience in production environment



+ Experience writing or using FX/CFX software



+ Experience with software like Houdini HDK and/or Maya API



+ Developing multi-threaded software



+ Production experience and/or working with visual artists



+ Python or scripting language
