Responsibilities & Duties

• Develop and implement strategic communications/PR objectives and strategies to reinforce brand strategies and business objectives across UKEM

• Mentor PR Manager and Intern with their day-to-day activities

• Nurture and retain excellent relationships with target broadcast, print and online media and bloggers throughout UKEM. Orchestrate synergies with social media efforts, including influencers.

• Plan and execute integrated PR campaigns for major programming/channel launches

• Build strong relationships with Central PR & Comms team in London to ensure PR campaigns are integrated into broader business / channel objectives

• Work with Central PR & Comms team to secure talent interviews for priority programming, including coordinating set visits and press junkets

• Develop/maintain relationships with key distributors to secure access to talent

• Draft consumer and trade press releases coordinating with the Central PR & Comms team, as required, to secure approvals

• Proactively draft all communications documents (press kits, promotional tools, key messages, holding statements, Q&A, briefs etc.)

• Synergise consumer publicity with corporate, trade and internal communications

• Identify strategic opportunities to raise the profile of the business via Senior Management

• Prepare Senior Management/designated spokespeople to support strategic trade communications (briefing documents for interviews, arrange media training etc.)

• Partner with Ad Sales to ensure ad sales team is supported with trade PR

• Partner with Marketing and Digital to incorporate PR strategies into integrated campaigns

• Update business stakeholders on competition / trade developments in regions

• Monitor and evaluate media coverage and sentiment to track local success and share with Central PR team

• Oversee viewer relations, as required

• Manage programme listings dissemination

• Manage PR budget, and work with VP Marketing to ensure spend complements wider marketing strategy

Internal Communication

• Own and drive local internal communications activities including tailoring of corporate messages/programmes and managing team events

• Contribute to internal communications channels (online newsletters etc.) to ensure key business achievements messages are communicated within NBCUIN and corporately


• Strong track record in publicity, talent management and communications, ideally within television/ studio environment. Ideally 5+ years experience.

• Deep understanding of overall communications perspective and key challenges, issues and trends in the media industry


• Impeccable writing skills

• Innovative and forward thinking, keeping up with the latest in digital/social media trends and platforms, proactively incorporating new ideas and/or emerging platforms

• Self-starter with good sense of prioritisation and hands on approach, able to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines within matrix structure

• Good communicator with strong interpersonal and business skills, confident in communication with senior management/clients, confident in taking speaker opportunities with media

• Strong written and presentation skills (preparing and giving presentations to senior management, clients, big audiences)

• Experience in managing teams and agency relationships

• Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable

• Fluent English; second language preferable

• Highly creative with an appreciation for high quality, stylish creative work

• Confidence and effectiveness in working with senior executives and matrixed comms contacts

• Evidence of strategic approach and robust project planning

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

• Highly organised; skilled at multi-tasking and prioritising workload to meet tight deadlines

• Enthusiastic and flexible; able to deal with change and manage self and others under pressure
