• Collaborating with the Marketing and Creative Heads to create innovative long-term channel plans and ensure programming plans are effectively communicated and executed, and all brand initiatives are supported with appropriate programming.

• Connecting with the Research department to ensure audience insights, needs and behaviours are fully understood, initiating qualitative and qualitative projects when appropriate.

• To monitor the progress of the rated schedules by reviewing audience figures with the research team on a very regular basis and act on any necessary adjustments / changes to maximize ad sales revenues.

• Constantly monitoring, anticipating and reacting to competitor activity, market trends, seasonal fluctuations and any other external factors to best drive performance and competitive advantage.

• To manage, mentor and challenge a team of planners in implementing the programming strategy for the channels and to ensure the strongest schedules possible.

• To agree details of the weekly schedules with each individual planner. Share the information and decisions made with Marketing, Commercial, Promos and Presentation teams.

• To advise on the mix of programmes needed to produce the most competitive schedules possible and be aware of local specificities or requirements.

• To research programmes for schedules which will include a full knowledge of back catalogue as well as new US drama. To liaise with Acquisitions about programme rights and availabilities.

• To track programming costs and be able to make recommendations on better budget allocation and hours needed.

• With commercial and management teams, provide analysis and build complimentary non-linear propositions to support linear channels as necessary (SVOD, OTT rights etc…)

• Responsible for leading and the day to day management of the Planners, setting and reviewing performance objectives and ensuring their development needs are met.

Skills & Experience

• Broad and deep experience of TV programming in the UK market.

• Ability to work across a number of channels and brands, and multiple territories

• Demonstrable understanding of competitive arena across Pay, FTA and SVOD services.

• Experience of creating and executing editorial strategies for targeted audiences.

• Experience of analysing ratings and programme performance analysis (knowledge of Techedge)

• Experience of identifying and acquiring high quality US entertainment content for the UK market from a wide range of sources.

• Full understanding of programming rights requirements in the UK.

• Experience of successfully and creatively launching new content to targeted audiences.

• Thorough understanding and experience of successfully scheduling programming in a highly competitive arena, and managing programmes inventory in a creative way.

• Proven ability to manage budgets and support overall commercial and brand objectives.
