**Responsibilities**

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for local ride and show networks. Performs activities related to the

creation, implementation, and sustainment of industrial networks and communications. Activities

include security, design & infrastructure implementation, acceptance testing and continual auditing.

Partners with global Universal Parks & Resorts on system design and architecture. Will also collaborate

with Universal enterprise IT and Universal Core Safety and Engineering to deploy and maintain a sitewide

Technical Services network utilizing the enterprise network backbone. This individual will support

the maintenance and safety of the ride and show networks and communications infrastructures, in

conjunction with the Controls Engineering group.



Core RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute attraction communications and network operation strategy. Including:

o Support of the design, development, and management of network supervisory safety,

reaction and monitoring systems (DRSS and AOC) for new and existing park attractions.

o Support of the design of 3-tier and ISA-99 defense-in-depth network models to enforce

security and increase network segregation and security among ride show networks.

o Execution of attraction data compilation of unique systems information while adhering

to safety and design strategies. Including support systems such as Access Control and

Building Management.

o Design and execution of acceptance testing strategies including regular auditing of

existing control networks for predictive maintenance purposes.

o Co-design and review of project network architecture and ensure appropriate security,

growth, safety, redundancy, reliability and sustainability design strategies are in place

and are given proper weighting in the design objectives.

o Supporting the design and maintenance of co-existing wired and wireless networks.

Working with corporate and enterprise network IT to ensure successful partnering and

uptime requirements for networks. Implementation and support of the next generation

of shared services for ride show networking.

o Development of a strategy for fault management, including metrics and reporting.

oOversee existing attraction architecture renovations and updates. Understand hardware and

firmware currently in use and ensure updates as appropriate for upgraded and obsolete

equipment. Remain current with latest technology regarding hardware, software and security.

oProvide design and maintenance support for all attractions including training controls and tech

services personnel. Maintain configuration management of hardware and software

documentation. Partner with IT to ensure proper access, accountability, and processes.

oEnsure Engineering & Tech Services PCs integrate with various tools and programs that are

required with technology in the field.

oUnderstand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by

following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

oBe willing to work nights, weekends and peak periods as required. Be on-call for park support.

oPerform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or

related field.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience with IT networking, safety control

systems, control systems communications networks, large network integration with multiple levels of

safety and security requirements.

o Experience with PLCs and automated control systems.

oKnowledge of generation of control system specifications and acceptance test procedures.

oSolid understanding of the software development lifecycle and change control.

oExperience with various communication protocols and network hardware.

oAbility to articulate and communicate network design, security, and performance issues at any

level.

oCCNA or equivalent certification or experience.

**Desired Characteristics**

5+ years of experience with: Ride and Show control

systems in the theme park industry, as well as exposure to audio, video and lighting control systems.

o Experience utilizing the following products and networks: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Pilz PLC

hardware and software.

oMicrosoft development languages (C#.NET, VB.NET, C++)

o Knowledgeable in ASTM and F24 standards.

o Knowledgeable in NEC, UL 508A.

oFamiliar with international electrical design and safety standards, such as:

o ISO 13849

o IEC 61508

oExperience in the design of safety critical systems.

o CCNP or equivalent certification or experience.
