Are you a coder, a data viz enthusiast and an all-around visual storytellers? NBC News Digital is seeking a talented Interactive Journalist to bring stories to life across all digital platforms.

This is a job at the forefront of journalism’s digital future and the ideal candidate is creative, innovative and agile, with a passion for the intersection of visual journalism and technology.

Job Duties

Working with a team of editors, reporters and digital journalists across all format, you will create compelling digital experience, including data visualizations, maps, information graphics, dynamic interactive features and rich cross-format multimedia packages.

The candidate must be able to handle projects from start to finish from breaking news to long-term packages. They should be experienced in visualizing information in compelling ways and write clean and efficient code.

The candidate will have superior design and technical skills, expertise working as a front end developer and a track record of conceptualizing and implementing creative digital projects. Other responsibilities include templates, code libraries and widgets.


Basic Qualifications

+ 5+ years UI/UX experiences in digital media

+ 5+ years in news

+ Degree or equivalent experience

+ Proficiency in modern Web technologies (HTML, CSS, SASS, Javascript and JQuery, d3 and additional visualization libraries)

+ Excellent knowledge of data tools such as spreadsheets and databases

+ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

+ Expertise in digital design theories including but not limited to typography, responsive web design and color theory

+ Ability to execute creative plans, wireframes, navigation flows, and style guides.

+ Strong research and reporting background

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

+ Team player with excellent collaborative skills

+ Ability to work on deadline and under pressure on multiple projectsAdditional Job Requirements
