NBC Bay Area News is seeking an Investigative Producer to join our team. The successful candidate will research, develop, write and produce ground-breaking news stories. These projects will be developed on a long and short-term basis and require extensive research and analysis of politics, community issues and topical events. The producer will collaborate with reporters, photographers and editors to develop stories.

Essential Responsibilities

• Generate story ideas, research and set up the content and interviews

• Work with reporters, show producers, managers and photographers to conceptualize, write, and edit stories

• Develop compelling graphic presentations as needed

• Create unique and engaging content for digital platforms and social media

• Build relationships with the community and develop sources for the purpose of generating original content with a focus on fact checking those in power

• Participate in basic video shooting and editing


Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Five years of experience working in news or relevant field

Eligibility Requirements:

• Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through to be considered

• Must be willing to work at the station in San Jose, CA

• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation

• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

• Must have the ability to work any of a 24 x 7 shift

• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and overnights

**Desired Characteristics**

Additional Desired Characteristics:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications

• Experience working on special projects in TV news

• Excellent writing skills as well as very strong speech skills

• Strong understanding of politics and policymaking

• Able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines

• Possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment

• Demonstrated ability to enterprise, research and plan stories

• Demonstrated experience generating and producing news stories

• Ability to work flexible hours (including weekends) and to return to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage
