Role Purpose

The Junior Publicist will work closely with the Sr. Director of Communications to help inform and engage employees on the culture and happenings, and support division-wide Communications initiatives at NBC Sports Group. This position serves as a key internal communications contact to implement communications strategies for NBC Sports Group.


+ Serve as a member of the NBC Sports Group Communications team and contribute to initiatives, PR campaigns, and events, as needed.

+ Draft and execute strategic internal communications for NBC Sports Group to ensure a strong connection between employees and the business.

+ Partner with HR and other various departments on internal comms projects, as needed.

+ Support Production and Communications on Sports Emmys award submissions and events.

+ Assist with corporate philanthropy events by reviewing requests, processing invoices and filling tables.

+ Manage NBC Sports Group’s community relations initiatives, by fostering strong contacts with local organizations as well as internally.

+ Partner with HR for community and employee events.

+ Manage employee screenings for NBCUniversal’s Stamford-based employees.

+ Coordinate photo shoots.

+ Assist with the management of department operations, including managing budget, hiring interns / Pages, etc.

+ Maintain consistent NBC Sports Group presence across NBCUniversal and Comcast online properties, including NBCU Now, NBCUniversal’s Media Village, NBC Sports Group Press Box, Comcast corporate’s site, etc.


QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: (4,000 character limit)

Basic Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations

+ Minimum (2) two years working in public relations and/or Sports industry

+ Experience with Adobe PhotoshopAdditional Qualifications

+ Excellent writing skills

+ Passion for Sports

+ Must be a team player

+ Must be a self-starter, assertive, enthusiastic and highly motivated

+ Must be detail-oriented, focused and organized

+ Must be resourceful and be able to multitask and prioritize

+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

+ Ability to exhibit flexibility, and relationship building skills
