We work closely with our Orlando US based colleagues in GolfNow, Golf Channel, NBC Universal International and Comcast. The role of Legal Counsel for GolfNow will be based in Belfast, Northern Ireland and focus on providing legal support to GolfNow’s UK Golf division and assist leadership in its UK operations and expansion to new territories internationally. The role will align closely with the wider international legal function.

The Counsel’s primary reporting responsibility will be to the US based Sr. Counsel, with secondary reporting responsibilities to the Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs. They will contribute to international operations as the primary in house advisor by taking responsibility for duties that include;

• Participation in Management Team Meetings and contribution through providing expertise and information to inform strategic level decision making.

• Drafting and negotiating various commercial agreements, amendments and other legal documentation with golf course partners, vendors and strategic partners.

• Providing practical legal advice and support across all GolfNow UK business functions, ensuring that business clients understand the legal implications of possible actions and the impact of new laws and regulations.

• Conducting legal research, anticipating and guarding the company against legal risks as appropriate.

• Establishing, improving and managing legal processes for GolfNow UK & internationally, including the contract review/execution process.

• Creating and continuously refining template agreements including standard course agreements, affiliate agreements, sponsorship agreements, and consulting agreements.

• Maintaining a complete understanding of internal contract requirements to ensure that wider business fundamentals are foundational and reflected in final agreements.

• Reviewing and approval of marketing initiatives, partnerships and promotions.

• Liaising with NBCU Corporate Legal functions as needed, including the Privacy, Litigation, Employment, and IP groups.

• Coordinating with NBC Sport Group’s Business & Legal Affairs department in Stamford, CT as appropriate to support the achievement of overarching business goals.

• Contributing to a working environment and culture which encourages teamwork, positive energy and innovation.


It is essential that candidates have:

• A relevant degree and be qualified to practice law in the United Kingdom.

• A minimum of 3 years of post-qualified experience in acting as legal counsel in a UK based company with a wider international corporate context.

• Demonstrable strong transactional experience and technical knowledge with regards to UK corporate and contract law, in particular recent relevant experience with regard to;

- mergers and acquisitions;

- corporate governance;

- commercial arrangements, drafting and negotiating agreements.

Candidates must also be able to demonstrate:

• The ability to interact with a range of personalities and styles and be able to establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, drafting, and research skills.

• The ability to work independently with little oversight and be able to adapt to changing priorities.

• Superior project management and organizational skills with the ability to handle and track a high volume workload.

• A solution based approach that is legally astute, highly ethical and relayed with excellent communication skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Admission to practice or experience of working within or in relation to international territories (outside of the UK and US- Australia, New Zealand or South Africa in particular).

• Experience within Media and/ or e-commerce contexts.

• A passion for the game of golf or the desire to contribute to driving the success of sports and technology.
