**Responsibilities**

The Manager, Publicity is responsible for devising, implementing and delivering innovative and high impact publicity efforts for Universal Studios Hollywood (USH) and Universal CityWalk (CW) within the International, Travel / Travel Trade, Tourism and Sales /Special Events related media sectors. This position reports directly to the VP Public Relations.



•Develop, plan and implement inspired publicity efforts based on initiatives to promote USH as a destination in key markets around the world, including influential international markets: UK, Australia, Canada, Latin America, Japan and China.

•Proactively pitch press with creative story angles that drive increased consumer editorial coverage.

•Serve as the liaison for the company and influential Tourism and Convention Bureaus, particularly LA Tourism and Visit California.

•Develop and sustain excellent media relations with targeted journalists that are both LA-based and overseas.

•Research, develop, and present innovative PR plans and compelling story ideas for USH/CW to influence international visitation.

•Manage and participate in industry trade committees/programs.

•Pitch and secure placement for destination in targeting broadcast, print, and online including long lead publications (i.e. travel/airline).

•Develop PR opportunities to drive increased awareness of the company’s Special Events business division.

•Provide PR support for seasonal and special events.

•Collaborate and manage international PR agencies to secure editorial placement of destination.

•Compose compelling press releases, speeches and presentations.

•Manage relevant program budgets, ensuring programs are conducted within budget guidelines, noting and reporting monthly variances.

•Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

•Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required; majors in Journalism, Public Relations or Mass Communications preferred.

•Minimum of 5 years of relevant PR experience.

•Must be able to be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends.

**Desired Characteristics**

•The ideal candidate will possess a substantive background in destination/entertainment publicity with a critical understanding and experience in managing international public relations efforts.

•Outstanding technical and creative writing skills.

•Strong communication skills with ability to write and convey marketing plans/efforts to executives.

•Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport in a flexible, fast paced team environment.

•Strong professional demeanor, able to represent the corporate entity in dynamic and unforeseen scenarios.

•Attention to detail with strong organizational skills; ability to juggle many tasks, and change gears quickly.

•Adept at developing innovative publicity strategies within corporate brand positioning.

•High degree of individual accountability to commitments and deadlines.

•Able to toggle effectively between working independently and collaboratively, in a transparent fashion.

•Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial.

•A good sense for newsworthy content.

•Thrives in fast-paced environment.

•Experience with social media PR strategy a plus.

•Exhibits a positive can-do, roll up the sleeves and get things done attitude.

•Language skills a plus.
