Description

As the Mobile Developer III you will be responsible for leading a development team on designing, architecting, building and maintaining native iOS, Android and Smart TV applications for Cox’s news television properties.  This is a fulltime position located in Atlanta Georgia.  The role demands a seasoned mobile application developer who specializes in both iOS and Android native mobile application development and who has a passion for team leadership.

The successful candidate must have an established background in team leadership, designing, architecting and developing customer-facing native mobile applications, a strong technical ability, a willingness to learn new technologies, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

You will also be responsible for training, mentoring and coaching other software developers on the team in mobile application development.

Responsibilities
• Lead a small to mid-size development and QA team
• Interface and establish relationships with customers including both technical and non-technical points of contact
• Act as a subject matter expert
• Act as scrum master for the agile development team
• Facilitate requirements analysis, design, and status meetings to ensure project team members are working towards the same goals
• Work with project management on project planning, deliverables tracking, vendor management, and project reporting to technical and business management
• Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business objectives
• Design, architect and build innovative, exceptional and well-engineered mobile applications with intuitive, well-designed user interfaces that satisfy both internal and external customer requirements
• Directly responsible for the development and delivery of Cox’s television properties mobile applications
• Participate in and help drive mobile architecture and design decisions
• Help develop best practices for mobile application development within Cox
• Train, mentor and coach the team on mobile application development
• Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, documentation, tools, and best practices
• Participate in and influence user interface interaction and design decisions
• Work closely with the QA team to facilitate thorough testing



Qualifications

• Minimum 6-8 years experience in software development with 4-6 years of native mobile application development and 1 – 2 years of team leadership
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines (or equivalent education and experience)
• Proven expertise in iOS application programming (Objective-C, Cocoa Touch, xCode, interface builder) and Android application programming (Java, Android SDK, Android Studio)
• Deep understanding of memory management, file I/O, network programming, and multi-threading required 
• Published examples of mobile applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store
• Solid knowledge on web service feed integration (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML)
• Experience using GIT or other revision control software
• Mobile push notification implementation experience
• Expertise in mobile video delivery, streaming and playback
• Experience with Agile development projects, especially Scrum
• Proven results oriented person with a delivery and quality focus
• Passion for working in small teams with rapid development cycles
• Experience with Roku programming a plus
• Expertise in Google analytics and ads integration (DFP) a plus
• Experience with media related applications (Radio, TV and Newspaper) or building large consumer oriented applications a plus
