Role Purpose

The Portfolio Director, Technology Portfolio Management provides strategic/tactical leadership and oversight for creating, sustaining, implementing, and driving efficient and effective project portfolio management processes in support of business objectives. He/she will collaborate with leaders and stakeholders from both the Technology division and the business to ensure proper coordination and execution of activities related to the delivery of technology projects. They are responsible for overseeing one or more sub-portfolios, including supporting projects from demand origination to project closure; managing governance around PMO processes; supporting project escalations; PPM and reporting tools; regular reporting and training needs. The position requires significant interaction with cross-functional departments within the company, collaboration across other technology portfolios, and excellent communication and relationship management skills to influence and resolve issues.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

+ Lead multiple Portfolio(s) in support of business CIO/CTO(s) objectives and with a focus on governance

+ Develop and foster relationships with CIO/CTO’s, sub-portfolio leaders, project managers, portfolio stakeholders, and external partners

+ Provide daily management of Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Analysts, if applicable

+ Collaborate with business and finance leadership to support project intake, vetting and prioritization processes within each portfolio, sub-portfolio, and across portfolios as needed

+ Provide consistent and effective portfolio dashboards, portfolio reviews, scorecards, and reports

+ Collaborate with BTG and finance leadership on analysis of in-flight and proposed projects

+ Ensure that portfolio benefits are defined and managed during the portfolio lifecycle, and that the realization is monitored

+ Apply best practices in the areas of project management and portfolio management

+ Ensure compliance and alignment with the Technology Project Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) standards and processes

+ Facilitate and / or support coordination for project efforts that span across NBCU Technology groups

+ Identify, track, and help resolve cross-portfolio dependencies and conflicts

+ Serve as the point of escalation for project stakeholders or requestors with issues directly related to project management

+ Develop and facilitate PM community meetings and workshops

+ Manage portfolio via internal tool sets and reports

+ Provide leadership and management/mentorship and coaching of Program/Project Managers, if applicable

+ Promote IT framework, governance, and processes


Basic Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Business or related field

+ Ten years combined IT experience in project, program and portfolio management

+ Successfully managed a large portfolio or program (+10 active projects) with multiple business stakeholders

+ Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization including managing through cross-business area or business unit prioritization discussions

+ Experience in implementing and maintaining accurate key performance measures relating to PMO and project management best practices such as building work breakdown structures, Waterfall/Agile/Scrum methodologies, etc; experience with traditional SDLC methodologies

+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Project and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and possess solid computer skills.

+ Experience in MS Project Server highly desirable.

+ PMP and/or PMI certified and Scrum-certified or working knowledge of Agile methodology
