**About Us** NBCUniversal is launching a new Telemundo-owned station in Washington, D.C. This project will expand NBC Washington / WRC-TV’s news staff with a new team of Spanish-speaking and bilingual journalists to launch the new station. Both news teams will serve local Spanish- and English-speaking viewers in the greater Washington, D.C. region. The new Telemundo station team will work closely with WRC-TV’s team members in the existing facility that is home to NBC Washington.

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations is the division of NBCUniversal that includes 30 NBC and Telemundo local television stations, a regional news network and their associated websites and digital platforms, as well as a group of out-of-home properties, a production company, an in-house marketing and promotions company and two national multicast networks, COZI TV and TeleXitos. The local stations, which can be viewed in 37 percent of U.S. homes and in Puerto Rico, produce and deliver their local communities compelling and unique local news, real-time weather forecasts, consumer and investigative reports and entertainment programming across all platforms to help keep their English and Spanish-speaking audiences informed anytime and anywhere.

Producers are responsible for working as a team with writers, editors and directors to produce a cohesive show. Responsibilities include:

Job Duties

+ Work with newscast directors, creative, promotion and news staff to coordinate production of the newscast

+ Conceptualize stories with story producers, reporters, and talent

+ Critique production, writing and editing of news stories

+ Produce newscasts and other broadcast content in an automated production control environment

+ Work with the production team to ensure smooth and seamless productions

+ Work with News Managers and Producers to ensure the most complete local news coverage

+ Work with digital team to incorporate social/mobile/digital content into newscast

+ Edit news content using non-linear editing equipment

+ Manage the newscast story producers

+ Ensure fairness, accuracy and balance in stories


Basic Qualifications

+ A minimum of 2 years of experience as broadcast Producer

+ Minimum 3 years of experience writing, producing and desktop editing

+ At least 1 year prior news editing experience

+ Demonstrated knowledge of AP style writing and guidelines

+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal

+ Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience

+ Must be willing to work in Washington, D.C.

+ Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

+ Must be 18 years or older

+ Be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required

+ Experience as a Producer in a major market for television, web based news service, or mid-sized market EP

+ Ability to communicate effectively and work well with people while under pressure

+ Knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations

+ Ability to work on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast paced environment

+ Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and write intros and leads to video online content

+ Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile

+ Ability to work with minimal supervision

+ Positive work ethic and can work under tight deadlines

+ High degree of integrity and professionalism

+ Team player who can also work independently and is a self-starter

+ Solid leadership skills

+ Strong organizational skills
