Universal Pictures International UK & Eire is currently recruiting for a Promotions & Partnerships Manager for a 12 month fixed term contract.

The primary responsibilities of the role will include:

• Leading UK theatrical Promotions and Partnerships

• Championing appropriate films to ensure they get the necessary promotional attention and focus from brand and media partners as well as internal stakeholders.

• Strategically developing promotional campaigns on assigned titles, working closely with Marketing Managers

• Working cross divisionally within the UK theatrical team to maximise the potential of each promotional partnership.

• Working cross company to maximise promotions within the Universal network.

• Managing and overseeing the creative process on all promotions.

• Managing all promotional admin on assigned titles.

• Building and maintaining relationships with promotional partners.

• Managing the relationship with the European, US and International promotions teams for the UK.

• Managing the Universal team at assigned brand partnerships agency.

• Representing Theatrical on the NBCUNI Symphony team.


Promotional Campaign Development:

• Manage the planning, implementation and review of all theatrical promotions. This includes, but is not limited to, third party brand partnerships, media partnerships, experiential activity, screening programs and special events.

• Strategically assess and debate each promotional proposal to ensure Universal achieves the best value, price, execution, creative and mechanic in a promotion that stays true to the title’s strategic objectives.

• Assist the trade marketing team in the planning and implementation of large trade promotions

• Project manage the promotional life-cycle process, including sourcing appropriate pitching materials, NDAs, promotional agreement forms, contracts, prize packages and prize fulfilment.


• Represent the Universal theatrical promotions team by presenting at company hosted launches, media events, promotional partner events, exhibitor events and filmmaker presentations as required.

• Regular communication with the US, European and International Promotions teams, ensuring necessary approvals are obtained and that latest strategy and creative guidelines are adhered to in all promotions.

• Communicate daily with Universal’s brand agency on all active projects and pitching titles.


• Check and send the monthly brand reports (on requested titles) to the US Promotions team.

• On relevant titles, create and distribute an in-cinema & events strategic & positioning guide to the trade team.

• Create campaign round up slides for each promotionally relevant title and send to the Marketing Manager on request.


• Personally manage the approval process and execution of promotions with media partners.

• Oversee the retained Brand Agency, who manage the creative approval process on a day-to-day basis with third parties brands

• Maintain a relationship with the US Promotional creative team in order to assist with the above process.

• Work with the Marketing Assistant to deliver creative assets and guidelines to all promotional partners.

• Work with the International Creative team and UK Marketing Managers to ensure the supply of the most up to date assets and guidelines or to obtain procurement/approval/creation of unusual creative assets for both media and third party partners.

• Regularly communicate the latest creative developments with the brand partnership agency.


• Oversee, manage and communicate with Universal’s retained brand agency on a day to day basis.

• Ensure all agencies appointed to work on Universal titles are accurately briefed in writing with expectations and budgets clearly outlined.

The successful candidate will:

• Be able to demonstrate promotional marketing experience, ideally within theatrical marketing or a film environment, coupled with a track record of achievement.

• Have excellent knowledge of all aspects of promotional marketing: ability to devise and execute innovative promotional campaigns.

• Be confident enough in themselves and their experience to run the promotions department independently.

• Possess advanced experience of both media and third partner partnerships.

• Have excellent knowledge of the theatrical market and landscape.

• Have brilliant knowledge of UK media outlets and UK brands.

• Be a strong team player with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships both internally within the organisation and externally.

• Have exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) coupled with excellent presentation skills.

• Possess excellent organisational skills, including a strong attention to detail.

• Have the ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.

• Be a self-starter, who has the ability to work as an independent unit, as well as part of a wider marketing team.

• Have experience of working in a dynamic, fast paced and demanding environment.
