Reporter/Anchor Job Description
This job as a reporter/anchor will include but not limited to.  
An enterprising and energetic hard-news reporter.  This reporter will join a newsroom that emphasizes breaking news, daily investigative reporting and severe weather coverage.  Reporter must dig for extra information.  He or she must also be hungry to use new technology to present stories and the journalists should be adept at using social media to gather and break stories. This positon will be an energetic hard news reporter that emphasizes daily news, breaking news an severe weather coverage.  Our reporter/anchor will enterprise exclusives, tell compelling stories san execute energetic live shots.  This reporter/anchor will fill in on the anchor desk to cover vacations, big story coverage and field anchoring on big events.  Our anchor reporter is a newsroom leader who helps mentor and grow producer and reporters.  When on the anchor desk our reporter/anchor will write and edit scripts with process driven communication.  we are looking for enterprising self-starter who works well under tight deadlines, and can develop sources.
JOB DUTIES:
20% - Enterprise ideas and develop relationships with sources
70% - Crafts & presents stories
10% - Fill in anchor as needed (vacations, field anchor, big story coverage)
JOB TASKS
Enterprise ideas and develop relationships with sources -  20%
  • Reaches out to sources and fosters a relationship
  • Remains extremely knowledgeable of all local and national news
  • Pitches original, local stories with impact
  • Follows research guidelines when fertilizing ideas
Crafts & presents stories – 70%
  • Works with photojournalist to craft a story that includes real people
  • May need to shoot & edit story
  • Writes accurate, grammatically correct scripts
  • Digs for information
  • Follows time guidelines
  • Presents stories live as needed
Anchor – 5%
  • Fill in anchor at news desk, for anchors who take PTO
  • Anchor big story coverage and field anchor as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Degree in journalism or related field
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years reporter and some anchoring experience required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  The ability to multitask, strong organizational skills and solid news judgement.  Must be able to keep a cool head under pressure.  Strong interpersonal skills are a must.
