Job Description

WLKY is looking for a freelance reporter who has the ability to generate story ideas, write to video and do compelling live shots.  We’re looking for a strong, take-charge reporter who loves breaking news and can break enterprise stories.  The right candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule.


  • Generates lead-able story ideas on a daily basis
  • Works with a photographer to create compelling, visual stories
  • Contributes to our digital properties and social media throughout the day
  • Has a professional on-air look and delivery
  • Can bring context and perspective to stories

Required Skills

  • On-air television reporting experience required
  • College degree in journalism or a related field preferred


  •  Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent proven work experience

Required Experience

  • Past reporting experience (2-5 years) required
  • Demonstrated ability to enterprise and uncover
  • Your demo reel should be indicative of your everyday work
