As a key member of the Cox Media Group Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Vice President (SVP) Finance assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. Reporting to the CFO/EVP, the SVP Finance will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include responsibility for enterprise accounting, finance, forecasting and planning, A/P, A/R, credit & collections, business intelligence and financial systems.


• Provides leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.

• Ensures credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.

• Directs and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization, including FP&A, Enterprise Accounting, Credit & Collections, A/P, and A/R.

• Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.

• Evaluates and advises on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.

• Reviews financial results and discusses anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends.

• Leads financial functions including: business analytics, annual planning and monthly forecasting, metrics reporting and ad-hoc analysis. 

• Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.

• Provides executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.

• Manages processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting.

 Provides recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.

• Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial reporting.


• BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable

• 10+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles

• Proven track record of process improvement successes

• Ability to effectively present complex financial information to decision makers and non-financial audiences

• Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management to maximize performance.

• Results oriented, with a high bias for action and a strong sense of ownership/accountability.

• Experience working in a high-change environment, directing large, dispersed teams.

• Media industry experience preferred
