Are you a master of social media? A titan of Twitter? A sultan of Snapchat? Then NBC News has a job for you. We’re looking for a talented journalist to lead our social media team. The ideal candidate knows news, knows social, and knows how to manage a team. You’ll work closely with the Director Social Strategy and the editors of NBCNews.com to set strategy and lead the team to execute it. You should know and work well with data with a proven ability to zero in on the metrics that really matter. A mind for detail is a must in this job; it’s a big team to manage that's spread across the globe. We can’t tell you what a typical day is like, but we do know what you'll do everyday: Put the great work of NBC’s journalists in front of the right audiences, whatever the platform.



Job Duties



+ Manage the day-to-day operation’s of NBC News’ global social media team.

+ Oversee daily posting and engagement strategy

+ Work to develop and maintain best practices to help grow audience and drive engagement

+ Contribute creative ideas for special projects and series

+ Hire, guide and manage social media interns

+ Work closely with video teams, providing feedback to strengthen social share ability of video projects and establish best practices

+ Work with sections and diversity verticals to create social posting and engagement strategies and guide them in using social analytics to track progress

+ Train editors, writers and other content producers in social media best practices and help infuse social media into all areas of the newsroom

+ Pitch social ideas and create strategy for special projects

+ Help develop social-native projects overseen by social team

+ Partner with other NBC brands as well as other media companies for content sharing

+ Discover and break news through social media platforms and tools to share with editors

+ Work with analytics to help inform strategy and best practices

+ Collaborate across digital teams to integrate social and editorial content

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications



+ Bachelor’s Degree Required

+ 5+ years working in a news organization, 3+ years working in social media

+ Proven track record transforming creative ideas into successful social media implementations across multiple brands

+ Strong writing skills – the ability to capture the voice of a brand and execute across multiple platforms

+ A deep understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Snapchat

+ Proven news judgment, high ethical standards and wonderful interpersonal skillsAdditional Job Requirements
