NBC recently launched a new digital-first team of reporters, filmmakers, animators, tinkerers and video journalists tasked with rethinking what video news and features could and should look like in 2017.

NBC Left Field is an independent, off-site division of NBC News aimed at experimenting with emerging technologies and developing a sleek video news offering in new and rapidly growing spaces on mobiles and broader social spaces.

Our aim is to push boundaries in video by toying with technology, thinking about data, employing smart design and challenging what an American broadcaster should look like in the 21st Century.

We’ve been developing and toying with video features and social video for the past few months. But we are now about to launch several series and are looking for a highly ambitious and hungry social media producer to be our voice on the internet.

We’re seeking a brilliant producer and creative internet mind to run our social media accounts. We’re looking for someone who not only knows how to interact with online communities through great content but someone who can devise new strategies on the fly and leverage participation in threads and comments sections.

This role will be responsible for supporting our video creators, writing social headlines and scheduling posts. We want you to get your hands dirty. But we also want you to collect data and conceptualize how we might take advantage of NBC’s existing massive audience.

We are building this unit and these new products together. We expect you to experiment and hatch schemes for getting our content into the eyes and hears of our viewers.

We supply the raw materials and you help build the social empire.


Basic Qualifications

+ You should have at least 2+ years professional experience in the news industry as well as be a masterful writer.

+ Experience building social accounts and communities from the ground up

+ Photoshop

+ Adobe Premiere

+ Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies

+ Experience working in a news or documentary environment

+ Professional writing

+ Strong collaborative abilities

+ Web analytics

+ CMS experience

+ Basic understand of HTML, CSS and Javascript Additional Job Requirements
