Working within the NBC News Group, supporting NBC News and MSNBC the senior manager, Consumer Insights Research will report to the VP to help provide the organization with a comprehensive consumer view of the overall industry market place and the News Group’s relative positioning by brand. This director will support Programming Leadership, Marketing Strategy, Digital Analytics, Program Insights and Business Development with key insights relative to News Group consumers’ needs, preferences, and behaviors to help inform and enrich key business decisions.

Job Duties

+ Conducting and curating strategic research on key industry issues and trends (linear and digital)

+ Conducting and curating primary research related to key business issues, product development, brand marketing, and user experience

+ Manage research projects and key vendor partners

+ Explore and test new and innovative consumer research methods and techniques

+ Integrate key learning from primary research with behavioral data from syndicated data sources (Nielsen, Set-Top Box Data, Simmons, MRI, etc.) to create program and brand overview presentations

+ Create on-going report outs and recommendations relative to key industry trends, brand performance, and talent tracking


Basic Qualifications

+ 7+ years’ experience in media/consumer research

+ Strong expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, with extensive experience designing studies, analyzing large data sets and conducting focus group and interviews.

+ Extensive knowledge of and experience with a variety of research methodologies, both traditional and non-traditional

+ Solid deductive and creative thinker with the ability to synthesize key insights from multiple sources and succinctly share information relevant for strategic decisions

+ Experience synthesizing and writing research summaries that convey a consumer / brand story, not just reporting numbers.
