Role Purpose

This position will provide technical expertise to perform work for NBC Sports Digital Playmaker service delivery. As a Systems Engineer, you'll assist the Engineering team with work on servers (both self-hosted as well as cloud based) in both dev and production phase of technical implementations for a range of NBC Sports Digital initiatives spanning the globe. You will work with clients, technicians, designers and project managers to support the hardware and OS platforms associated with client video platforms. You will work with component teams to ensure all necessary supporting functions are taken care of for the infrastructures in place to implement and release services involving video streaming architectures. The main responsibility will be to deliver solutions alongside an assigned project team to each of the Sport and Media client initiatives using the ever-evolving video technology stack and to assist with maintenance and performance upkeep of the components.


+ Will help support infrastructure and services for internal initiatives and external partner solutions for high profile clients

+ Support for project based changes and maintenances for all supported partners

+ Responsible for supporting key technology initiatives as live, premium events arise and direct to consumer OTT offerings evolve.

+ Assist in the analysis, design, and development stages, meeting all project milestones and service agreements

+ Support duties relating to the maintenance of all infrastructure issues

+ Maintaining and handling of outage related incidents and issues working closely with internal support teams to troubleshoot and help isolate root cause for escalation

+ Where applicable, be responsible for producing and maintaining comprehensive documentation (both production, engineering and legal-related agreements)

+ Participate in after-hours deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed for premium live events and partner product launches

+ Participate in issue/alerts/monitoring alarms for systems and entry of tickets into tools ServiceNow

+ Work with vendor contact roles including Support Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers


Basic Qualifications

+ Minimum 1 year experience in IT infrastructure, computer based duties

+ Degree from Undergraduate program in Information Technology or Engineering related subject Additional Qualifications

+ Minimum basic skills in configuration and maintenance of Windows and/or Linux servers

+ Minimum basic skills in the use of command line tools for both Windows and Linux

+ Proficient with infrastructure monitoring tools

+ Experience with LAN and WAN networking technologies

+ Basic experience with infrastructure services in all following additional areas: storage, backup and restore, system and network monitoring, patches and upgrades

+ Basic experience with HTTP, DNS, UDP, RTMP, Aspera FASP, Signiant, and various other transport protocols and network concepts

+ Understanding of web application environments

+ Understanding of mobile, tablet and OTT streaming protocols and environments

+ Understanding of HTML and XML SchemasEligibility Requirements

**Desired Characteristics**

+ Security qualifications, such as CISSP a plus, but not required

+ Basic understanding in the use of maintenance of all version of MS windows XP/7/8/8.1, MS Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012

+ Microsoft certification, e.g. MCSE a plus, but not required

+ Practical experience with design, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware

+ Configuration and maintenance of Streaming Infrastructure utilizing Windows Servers

+ Team player with the ability to prioritize work and problem solve issues

+ Exposure to any web application security penetration and performance testing

+ Exposure to video streaming protocols such as Smooth, HDS, RTMP, HLS, and DASH
