Problem solving, superior technical skills, and possessing the ability to use good judgment under pressure are just some of the key attributes we are looking for in our Restaurant Equipment Technicians.

Restaurant Equipment Techniciansat Universal Orlando are responsible for:

+ Diagnosing and repairing industrial kitchen and bakery equipment, including, but not limited to mixers, direct steam kettles, proofers, sheeters, dough rounders, and rack ovens.

+ Diagnosing and repairing refrigeration equipment, including, but not limited to coolers, freezers, ice machines, glycol systems, ice cream machines, and keg coolers.

+ Diagnosing and repairing commercial gas and electric kitchen equipment, including, but not limited to, fryers, steamers and ovens such as pressure cookers, steam kettles, tilt skillets, commercial dish machines, combi-ovens, microwaves, stoves and conveyor type ovens and broilers.

+ Diagnosing and repairing commercial espresso machines.

+ Performing preventative maintenance and rehab of all kitchen equipment to required manufacturers' specifications.

+ Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Universal Orlando policies, procedures, training, and Team Member involvement activities.

+ Performing other duties as assigned.


To perform the role of a Restaurant Equipment Technician successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

+ Consistent attendance is a job requirement.

+ High school degree or GED required. Technical school or Associate’s degree (AA) preferred.

+ Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification through the EPA required. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License in order to operate a company vehicle.

+ Five to seven years of commercial appliance repair and refrigeration experience required, seven to ten years experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedures, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees of the organization.

+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

+ Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

+ Ability to use extendable boom forklift, forklift (sit down, stand-up, or motorized pallet jacks), and high reach (aerial lift) required.

+ While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The individual is frequently required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The individual is occasionally required to sit, and taste or smell.

+ The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of the Restaurant Equipment Technician job.

+ While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions; and frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles, wet, humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The individual is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

+ While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is loud noise.
