Enterprise Business Intelligence Overview

The Enterprise Business Intelligence (EBI) team is an analytics- and data-centric organization that partners with business units to champion the collaborative use of NBCU data assets and advanced analytics/insights to drive business results. Our role is to elevate NBCU through intelligent and deliberate use of data assets coupled with advanced analytics that raise our understanding of our customers and inform critical decisions that drive our business every day. We will do this by enhancing the quantity, the quality and the accuracy of information used for decision making, as well as the efficiency and agility of the underlying analytic business processes. Applied Analytics is a primary area of focus for the NBCU Enterprise Business Intelligence organization.

**Responsibilities**

Position Overview

The Vice President, Applied Analytics, will be responsible for leading and developing the Los Angeles-based Applied Analytics team within the Enterprise Business Intelligence organization. This team will provide advanced analytics- and data-centric business support across NBCU business units located on the West Coast (Filmed Entertainment Group, Universal Studios Hollywood, NBC Entertainment). In this role, you and the team will be responsible for maintaining a broad NBCU perspective regarding data assets and analytic activity, while aligning and executing with business units at a local level. You will provide leadership and expertise in data/analytics, with a focus on initiatives that empower business units to extract greater value from company data assets and deliver insights derived through advanced analytics. You will embrace an external, business-facing focus, anticipating trends and surfacing customer needs for which your team and the broader EBI organization can apply innovative approaches to solve complex challenges. As a member of the overall EBI leadership team, you will develop long-term plans for the organization that measurably impact the achievement of business results.



Here what you’ll do in this role

**Advocacy for and Delivery of Advanced Analytics and Enterprise Data**



+ Advocate for greater utilization of enterprise and business unit data and advanced analytics to inform critical business decisions.

+ Deliver data- and analytics-centric solutions for businesses, complementing existing business teams with additional resources, perspectives, ideas and solutions.

+ Bring an analytical, data-driven mindset and focus on solutions to business partners and collaborate with their teams to deliver meaningful value by utilizing enterprise data assets.

**Strategic Planning and Visioning**



+ Surface the information, reporting, and analytical needs of each respective business unit.

+ Develop and implement a strategic vision, goals, and plans needed to achieve the EBI mission of using data and analytics to create value and inform critical business decisions (through application of advanced analytics and a broader utilization of data assets).

**Leadership**



+ Member of the leadership team for the NBCU Enterprise Business Intelligence organization; strong partnership and collaborative working relationship with other leaders within the team.

+ Establish and cultivate strong, collaborative working relationships with key senior leadership within various Business Units.

+ Manage and lead embedded team resources in Los Angeles.

Drive transformational change and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.



+ Recognize profitability and revenue potential in business opportunities and champion innovative ways to capitalize on them.

+ Incorporate broad and business-specific knowledge to address complex, unusual, and critical issues; not intimidated to explore and find potential innovative ways to solve complex challenges.

+ Identify potential redundant efforts across business units; champion plans and recommendations for solutions that leverage the strength of holistic, shared approaches.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications

+ 15+ years of experience in analytics with increasing responsibility in Entertainment, Media, Communications, Financial Services, Travel/Leisure, or related industries.

+ 5+ years of experience managing or leading a team.

+ A Bachelors’ degree is required

+ An advanced degree (MA, MS, MBA, PhD or equivalent) in Finance, Marketing, Business, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Methods, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or related field of study is highly preferred.

+ Background in and understanding of technical skills (e.g., SQL, SAS, R, Hive, Python), web and marketing analytics skills (e.g, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, SalesForce), and advanced analytics skills are preferred.

+ Consumer Marketing and/or Consulting experience highly preferred.

+ Acts collaboratively and decisively with a “one company” mindset at all times.

+ Demonstrates organizational savvy by successfully navigating complex, highly matrixed and decentralized organization.
