NBCUniversal has an opening for Vice President, Digital Platforms in the Media Engineering organization.

NBCUniversal’s Video Player Platforms team provides technology and operations solutions for emerging platforms and businesses for NBCUniversal’s television brands including NBC Entertainment, NBC News, NBC Sports, USA Network, SyFy, Bravo, Oxygen, CNBC, Telemundo and local TV stations. The wide range of services provided by the Media Engineering team include transcode/transport of NBCU film and television assets, distribution/playback of on-demand content and 24/7 live streams to the web, mobile and other platforms, on-air graphics play out and 2ndScreen solutions.

As the Vice President, Digital Platforms, you will lead the strategy and implementation for NBCUniversal’s centralized video platform technology stack to service live and VOD across web, mobile, OTT and other emerging platforms.

•Lead/manage a team of software engineers, quality assurance engineers, architects, and cloud engineers to create consumer facing internet video products, services and platforms to serve NBCUniversal digital experiences.

•Direct efforts to design and build market-leading, high performance and highly innovative digital video software and video SDKs to integrate into NBCUniversal and partner content portals and experiences.

•Architect and define video frameworks for extending NBCUniversal’s content reach to a multiplatform universe, including integrating with other web and mobile players, OTT devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, gaming platforms, and more.

•Industry subject market expert in video and media to drive technology partners to develop, productize and standardize offerings.

•Partner with cross-functional teams, engineering, IT, advertising, research, business development, both internally and externally to define product roadmaps and integration strategies. Anticipate and incorporate business needs with technological trends and requirements in the market.

•Model development and capabilities of NBCUniversal’s digital product portfolio and extend by evaluating build vs. buy options to continue to ensure adoption of new platforms, methods, technologies and standards.

•Package, present and evangelize digital offerings to external and internal business partners for incorporation of experiences into unique and wide-ranging consumer content consumption experiences

•Evaluate content syndication and engagement strategies with alternate screens & concurrent media opportunities

•Collaborate with cross-functional business leaders, partners, technology stakeholders in running POCs and demonstrating value of proposed workflows and technical solutions


•Minimum 10 years’ with proven ability to develop video player and platforms using agile methodologies and servicing variety of integration partners.

•Minimum 10 years’ in leadership roles defining product and viewer experience requirements and drive technical teams to develop against defined specifications

•Minimum 10 years’ experience with direct client engagement from requirements gathering to product launch

•Minimum 10 years’ experience in a role demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, or analytical skills

•Minimum 10 years’ experience in a role exhibiting excellent written and oral communications, effective interpersonal skills, project management, and strong formal presentation abilities

•Product management experience with emphasis on consumer-facing mobile sites/apps and applications across multi-platform devices, such as desktop, iOS and Android

**Desired Characteristics**

•Proven portfolio of deployed industry leading products in the market.

•Experience in Television/Broadcast, Media, Technology, or related field

•Experience with ad monetization and metrics platforms

•Experience with digital distribution of pay TV models, including entitlements

•Experience with interactive media, mobile design & app development from initial design through application launch

•Experience within Technical Operations, Broadcast Engineering or Information Technology with proven success in a variety of process improvement and software disciplines

•Experience with client side web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JS, Ajax, etc) & integrating with REST/SOAP APIs

•Experience with digital media concepts: encoding, transcoding, streaming, media formats, media transfer technologies, etc.

•Experience with deploying second screen, interactive, and social TV products

•Design experience, specifically experience in media applications including video and audio
