Role Purpose

NBCUniversal is looking for an experienced labor attorney to join its Labor Relations group. Responsibilities include administering collective bargaining agreements, handling grievances through arbitration and NLRB charges, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and strategically partnering with internal stakeholders with respect to legal and contractual obligations.


+ Act as labor legal counsel in grievances, arbitrations and in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.

+ Provide strategic advice and counsel to internal clients, including HR professionals, business leaders, managers and theatrical and television production teams regarding labor laws and union contractual obligations.

+ Act as chief spokesperson for Company in certain collective bargaining negotiations; negotiate side-agreements with guilds and unions as needed to facilitate theatrical and television production; participate in industry contract negotiations on behalf of the company and provide all necessary support.

+ Independently develop and maintain working relationships with labor union representatives.

+ Educate and advise business leaders and HR professionals in aspects of positive employment practices.


Required Skills, Abilities and Experience

+ Law degree

+ Admitted to practice law, California bar preferred.

+ Minimum of 15 years labor relations/labor law experience.Eligibility Requirements

+ Excellent litigation skills and specific labor litigation/arbitration experience.

+ Excellent negotiation skills and experience, union contract negotiations experience preferred.

+ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including legal and business writing.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a range of personalities and styles and establish effective relationships of all levels of the organization.

+ Strong leadership and influencing skills.

+ Clear thinker, with ability to quickly identify root causes of problems and develop creative and strategic solutions.

+ Experience in the entertainment industry and with entertainment industry labor relations.

+ Adaptable and collaborative style.

+ Self-motivated with a demanding work ethic.
