**Responsibilities**

NBC Left Field is a new internationally-minded video troupe that makes short, creative docs and features, all designed for social media and set-top boxes.



Our small team of cinematographers, journalists, animators and social media gurus aims to unearth stories and breathe creative life into current headlines.



Half the unit hails from outside the US, so we’ll be pushing boundaries at home and abroad while acting as an experimental NBC hub for style, treatment and audience engagement.



We’re an off-site division of NBC News tasked with experimenting with emerging technologies and visual storytelling.

Job Duties

We’re seeking a highly experienced video creator and visual journalist who walks the line between reporter and filmmaker. You should have at least five years professional experience working behind the camera, filming and crafting journalistic output on issues ranging from international politics to technology.



You should be an expert shooter, video editor and interviewer. Motion graphics experience is also a huge plus. And you should come bursting at the seams with story ideas.



We’re looking for someone with an artistic but radical eye who obsesses over both news and Internet technologies. You should have an immense amount of experience crafting scripts by hand and carrying out story ideas from conception to completion.



We’re looking for those who like to pivot off the top headlines and find a fascinating visual story buried within.



And lastly but of equal importance, you should eat, sleep and breathe social media. We will only hire someone who has a well-documented past of toying with visual storytelling on social platforms.



Though very much a part of NBC, we will expect you to bring a start-up mentality to our team, a liking for radical ideas, an unbounded sense of determination and an inventor’s curiosity.



This position is a 6-month assignment.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications



+ 5+ years professional experience in documentaries or news

+ Mastery in shooting (DSLR or similar) and editing as well as lighting and audio

+ Experience in CMS and basic understand of HTML, CSS and Javascript

+ Proficiency in Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere, After

+ Effects and Photoshop

+ International field experienceAdditional Job Requirements
