NBC News Digital is looking for a creative video producer and editor with motion graphics expertise to create compelling, thought-provoking videos for our new THINK vertical, which explores new ideas and opinions, stimulates conversation and debate, and deepens understanding of key issues. The videos will be produced in a variety of styles, including documentary, live action, animation and data visualization, and will be distributed on our digital, mobile and social platforms.



You’re the right candidate for this role if you are an enthusiastic and creative producer who is constantly thinking about how to make the news accessible, exciting and relevant. You should have experience with documentary and live action, video graphics and animation. You should be highly collaborative and excited about finding and recruiting new video voices. This is a position for someone who is as comfortable brainstorming ways to explain the Senate health care bill as they are discussing the societal factors that influence police brutality or finding fresh ways to illustrate sexism in Hollywood. We’re looking for someone who can work with our editors each week to develop great ideas and then transform those ideas into reality.



Whether tackling politics, tech, or culture, a love of design, motion graphics and storytelling is essential, as is the ability to find and highlight unique and resonant personal stories. This NOT a position for someone who merely translates the news into video—this is a position for someone who wants to transform the news into a video experience that will make our audience think differently about themselves and the world around them.



This is an exciting opportunity to work with an iconic media brand and exercise creativity as we extend our footprint and voice into the digital space.



Key Responsibilities



+ Develop original ideas for one-off features and series for THINK

+ Shoot, write, edit and produce THINK videos with an eye for social, on-deck and OTT distribution

+ Book interviews, talent and locations

+ Find and bring in work by other talented filmmakers, animators, etc.

+ Oversee freelance producers and editors

+ Work closely with the THINK editorial team

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Basic Qualifications



+ At least 5 years of experience shooting, producing and editing video for digital platforms

+ Expertise in DSLR shooting, lighting and audio

+ Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects)

+ Experience working with animation

+ Must be aware of latest formats and trends in digital video

+ Collaborative spirit and outstanding communication skills

+ Self-starter who can book and produce shoots as well as adapt editors’ ideas into successful production plans

+ Imaginative and creative producer who is comfortable inventing new formats

+ Able to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyAdditional Job Requirements
