The GDI Business Development team works closely with our business unit leaders and senior management to facilitate decision making through rigorous strategic and financial analysis. Driving projects from concept stage to conclusion, the team contributes directly to the realisation of operational excellence across our diverse businesses, as well as the development and implementation of GDI’s growth strategy.

**Responsibilities**

NBCUniversal Global Distribution and International (GDI) seeks a strong candidate for the position of VP, Business Development.

This leadership position will manage strategic planning and business development activities for GDI. Specific projects will include research, analysis, modeling, and recommendations related to emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, and internal business performance improvement. This leadership position will also be responsible for driving innovation at GDI as well as the development of new products, under the ‘Spark banner’. The individual will work in partnership with GDI’s business units and central innovation teams across GDI and, where applicable, in collaboration with other innovation teams across NBCU. Partnering with leadership across the business units and central business functions, this individual will support the ongoing program to create a more entrepreneurial culture and environment at NBCU.

**Qualifications/Requirements**

The primary responsibilities of this position include the following:

– Work closely with senior management in LA to execute current strategy and formulate new growth strategies for GDI

– Work closely with senior management to set the innovation agenda, including setting key goals and objectives of the innovation program

– Prepare strategic market analyses to identify potential areas of future growth across TV, film and new digital businesses related to media. Includes preparation of corporate profiles, strategic market analyses, updates on ongoing market trends and M&A activity.

– Work with business unit and functional leaders across GDI to build stakeholder and employee buy-in to the innovation program at all levels of the organisation

– Identify trends in a fast-evolving digital market and recommend a coherent point of view on areas for NBCU to explore from an innovation perspective

– Coordinate with central and local HR teams to develop a cohesive learning program to share knowledge and inspire employees within selected innovation topic areas, ultimately culminating in a more informed and engaged employee base

– Coordinate with central and local communications teams to develop an ongoing comms program – regularly updating employees on idea selection and new product development

– In partnership with Media Labs, responsible for driving ideation at all levels of the organisation

– Day-to-day oversight and review of new idea submissions to Spark portal

– Market analysis to source potential M&A options that can accelerate product development



Qualifications/Requirements

The individual must be a self-starter and have a high degree of self-motivation as well as a keen desire to drive change within a corporate environment.

– Experience driving new product development from design and prototyping phases through to product launch

– Experience originating and executing transactions with new digital businesses related to media

– Experience working on M&A transactions

– Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

– Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in matrix organisations

– A solid understanding of the media business, including the evolution in digital distribution

– Business-level proficiency in English a must

– Proven ability to interact successfully in an international environment and with executives at both senior and more junior levels
