**Responsibilities**

Position Overview

The Vice President, Video Technology will be a technology visionary and leader with strong experience in video delivery. They will lead a cross-platform team of digital engineers responsible for building and maintaining state-of-the-art sports video applications and frameworks for the NBC Sports Group. The role requires strong leadership skills coupled with a mix of hands-on development, comprehensive technical knowledge, and delivery of a highly scale-able and available video infrastructure in both broadcast and digital ecosystems. The Vice President, Video Technology will be a key player in making NBC Sports Digital dominant in digital video and an influential sports destination.



Responsibilities



+ Lead, inspire and optimize a team of 20+ technologists responsible for building websites, mobile and connected applications for NBC Sports Group digital properties

+ Assist with the managing of the Video Technology budgets

+ Assign projects and development tasks to developers and ensure that technical deliverables remain on schedule and on budget

+ Develop highly scalable and efficient video applications and frameworks that meet the goals of the NBC Sports Group

+ Partner management across a diverse eco-system to manage evolving lifecycle of multi-platform video

+ Coordinate QA/UAT and software releases with Video Engineers, Project Managers and Release/QA Engineer

+ Provide feasibility reviews on potential new projects, including development effort estimates

+ Create and review software architecture and hardware infrastructure proposals for all new application builds

+ Ensure that all products launched by the Sports Group meet the organization’s best practices for scalability, stability, and security

**Qualifications/Requirements**

Required Qualifications



+ 6+ years’ work experience in developing and deploying end to end large scale video applications as well as leading a team

+ 4+ years managing technology budgets or P&L

+ Experience in implementation of video in RTMP,HDS, HLS, MPEG-DASH and associated delivery and encryption technologies (AES-128, DRM and fingerprinting)

+ OVP landscape and features

+ Background in broadcast video workflow, including signal acquisition and encoding specifications

+ Live and VOD video topology, with CDN cache deliver experience related to each

+ Experience in the software lifecycle: application development (application structure, device and operating system APIs, debugging, performance, security) and deployment

+ Experience leading and managing a development team

+ Understanding of agile methodologies and full software development lifecycleEligibility Requirements
